Because a firm that lists twenty countries is, in almost every case, listing its subcontractors' countries. There is nothing inherently wrong with that arrangement, but it should be disclosed, and when it is not, the customer discovers it at the worst possible moment — usually when something has gone wrong and nobody will own it.
We run four routes regularly enough to know what the far end looks like: what a French village street does to a lorry, what Spain wants before it will release your furniture, what an Italian traffic zone costs if you get it wrong, and how damp a Portuguese house gets when it has stood empty.
Collections across the UK
Because loads consolidate before crossing, the pickup point is flexible. We collect across London and the South East as a matter of course, and handle collections from Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh on consolidated European runs.
Export packing is a different standard
A move across town gets packed one way. A move across a continent gets packed another. Goods crossing water are handled more times, sit longer in a vehicle and meet humidity changes — so cartons are double-wall, corners are boarded, soft furnishings get moisture protection, and anything with a polished finish is wrapped rather than blanketed.
Customs, plainly
A UK export declaration, an import entry at destination, and an inventory detailed enough to answer questions before they are asked. If you are moving your home rather than furnishing a second property, transfer-of-residence relief applies — but it has conditions and must be evidenced.
The inventory is what actually delays loads. "Household effects, various" is not an inventory. We spend the extra hour on it because that hour is cheaper than a fortnight of your furniture waiting on a query at a border.
Timing, honestly
Transit windows depend on the route, the crossing, consolidation scheduling and customs clearance. We give you an estimated window with the written quote rather than a promise on a web page, because a number printed here would be wrong for most moves and we would rather not start that way.

Which countries do you actually move to?
France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. That is the complete list rather than a selection from it. Plenty of removals sites advertise every country on earth and subcontract whatever they cannot do — we would rather name four and do them properly.
Where do you collect from?
Anywhere in the UK. European loads consolidate before they cross, so collections happen across the country on the way to a crossing — London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh are all routine. Split households, with belongings at two addresses, are common and we plan the pickups together.
What is groupage?
Your goods share a vehicle with other consignments heading the same way. It is how most household moves to Europe travel, because almost nobody fills a lorry alone. The trade-off is scheduling — the load goes when the vehicle is ready rather than the hour you finish packing.
When is a dedicated vehicle worth it?
When the volume justifies it, when the dates genuinely cannot move, or when access at the far end needs a particular size of vehicle. We will tell you honestly which your move suits rather than selling the larger option by default.
What changed with customs after Brexit?
Household goods moving to the EU now need a formal export declaration and a detailed inventory, and transfer-of-residence relief has to be applied for with evidence rather than assumed. It is paperwork, not a barrier. What it does mean is that a vague inventory causes real delay.
What cannot travel?
Fuel, gas bottles, aerosols, paint, solvents and anything flammable, plus restrictions on certain foods and plants entering the EU. We send the list before you start packing rather than finding a tin of white spirit at a border.
